The sacrament of Holy Orders is the church’s response to the Biblical command, “Come, follow me”. It sets aside certain men for a special vocation, creating a community or brotherhood of men dedicated to ministry who will serve the members of the church as priests.

It’s a ritual that involves the ancient practice of “laying on of hands” and anointing with oil. As gay men, we’re well acquainted with laying on hands for ourselves and others, and using oil (or lube) to anoint ourselves for pleasure! What if these elements were used as a sacrament to create a Community of Pleasure? A Brotherhood of Eros? Ministers of the Erotic?

Using just a little imagination, and reclaiming the Sacred for our erotic bodies, that brotherhood of priests might look a lot like this!
